A spirit wear package was sent home Monday with your student. Please note purchase of items is totally voluntary. Orders forms accompanied with a check are due March 18th.

Dear Parents,
Yamaha artist and Fairfax County alum, will be giving a jazz clinic focusing on improvisational techniques for young jazz musicians at Robinson HS on March 24 at 6pm. The format of the evening will be a 1 hr master class geared towards jazz studies and improvisation. Following the master class, Rex has offered to coach any interested jazz combos or individuals specifically interested in improvisation. The Robinson combo rhythm section will be available to accompany individuals wishing to play for Rex. We also are planning to have Yamaha instruments available for any students who wish to try out some new horns.

Just wanted to take a minute to say a huge THANK YOU for your generosity in making the concession sales at the District Band Festival this weekend such a success. What an amazing team we are! I was completely blown away by the amount of donated food and drinks we received, as well as the cheerful willingness of so many people to help this weekend. You made coordinating this effort SO easy!

As you know, the band is hosting District Band next weekend - Friday and Saturday, March 12th and 13th. We are planning to sell some food and drinks during this time to raise extra funds. Dear South Lakes Band Boosters,

The Fairfax County Public Schools FY 2011 budget calls for an $81.9 million increase over last year's county budget transfer in order to save key programs, such as elementary band and strings, class sizes, full-day kindergarten, and elementary foreign language

Unfortunately, the County Executive's FY 2011 Advertised Bugdet recommends a $1.6 million dollar transfer to the Public School Operating Fund, reflecting a 1 percent decrease from from last year's county budget transfer. (See the entire budget presentation. [link])

Students should report to the band room asap after period 2 and change for photos.
